I Octane Biography: Byiome I-Octane Muir age 22 was born in Sandy Bay in Negril the western part of Jamaica...

I Octane Biography:

Byiome I-Octane Muir age 22 was born in Sandy Bay in Negril the western part of Jamaica in 1988.

At an early age young Byiome always had a passion for music and used to be fascinated by the Reggae culture. Though being a Reggae star was a gift he didn’t think he could possess. Even though Byiome had good grades in school he also had some turbulent times. While attending Garvey Maceo High School he got into trouble and was suspended. With something negative in his life came along with a positive. A older friend of his told him to try and pursue a career in singing due to his great voice, thought process and vocabulary. Byiome kept the idea in mind in case his plans to be an Architect failed. After completing high school with good grades his family couldn’t support his dream to become an Architect due to the lack of money. This was a blessing in disguise becuase after this moment a star was born.

Byiome was always known for an extensive vocabulary that was able to spit rhymes quickly. Though he was doing it for fun and didn’t think anything would become of this. His friends would encourage him to get more involved in the Dancehall scene and take it more seriously. It wasn’t until a producer heard one of his free performances and saw huge potential with his raw talent and lyrical ability. With confidence in his back pocket it was time to come up with a stage name. Byiome chose to go by the name of I – Octane due to his high energy levels and long lasting ability.

Preforming shows and doing performances finally paid off when he was recognised by the famous Producer Donovan Germain who told him to join his team at Penthouse Records. During the first year he recorded with stars Beres Hammond, Buju Banton and Assassin. Working with Reggae and Dancehall stars helped him improve is vocal cords and understand how to flow properly. I Octane has his first break when he preformed with Bennie Man on stage at Summer Sizzle Jamaica.

Since then I Octane has successfully made his name known across Jamaica and through out the West Indies. He is the fastest new rising star to hit Jamaica since Vybz Kartel. Dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel has reported saying that I Octane is the closest thing he has to competition in the industry, and to watch out for this rising star.

Born Rafael Castillo in New York, U.S on September 1982. Rafael better known as his stage name“De La Ghetto” in...

Born Rafael Castillo in New York, U.S on September 1982. Rafael better known as his stage name“De La Ghetto” in the Reggaeton music industry. Even though he was born in America he was brought up in San Juan, Puerto Rico with his parents. His father was Dominican and his mother was Puerto Rican. At an early age of 6, De La Ghetto had an unfortunate turn of events when he found out that his father was murdered. There is no evidence yet on who and why he was killed. De La Ghetto never knew his father but his mother told him stories to let his memory live on. Before he moved to San Juan, his mother moved around with different jobs all across America and even as far as Europe. In De La Ghetto teenage years his family decided to settle down for good in La Perla, Old San Juan.

Like most kids who used to move at a young age from country to country De La Ghetto didn’t feel that he belonged to America. Until he went to his native land Puerto Rico he felt at home and would never look back. As a kid he was obsessed with singing and always wanted to preform in front of people to show off his talent. Ever since he was a young adult he knew his calling was going to be in music. Unlike most kids out of Puerto Rico, De La Ghetto had the upper hand due to his first language was English. His accent changed when he was studying in high school that gave his voice a unique spin.

Trying to get his name known to the country with his music skills took a lot of work but his raw talent was not something you would forget. From 2002 to 2004 De La Ghetto notoriety in the Reggaeton music industy was being stronger by the day. Many famous artist wanted to collaborated with him like Daddy Yankee, Ivy Queen Tego Calderon, Zion y Lennox, Nejo y Dalmata and Tito El Bambino.

Until 2005 De La Ghetto was lucky enough to work with Arcangel and since that day he was able to sky rocket his career to new limits. Arcangel who was born in New York to Dominican parents joined forces with De La Ghetto where they successfully moved up the ladder. There first hit that was number one in Puerto Rico for months in 2005 was “Stick” under the production “Sangre Nueva”. After that first single De La Ghetto was going to break barriers.

As time progressed De La Ghetto became so known that he started doing tours around Puerto Rico and America. His fame started to rise across the Latin community and fans wanted more and more. Now at the prime of his game De La Ghetto is dropping hit after hit and is not stopping anytime soon. De La Ghetto came out with his solo album called “Masacre Musical” in 2008 that raked #46 on the Latin Billboards.

Popcaan Biography:

Jamaican dancehall deejay born in 1991, July 15 in St. Thomas, Jamaica. At a very young age, Andre”Popcaan” Sutherland moved to the mean streets of Portmore, St. Catherine with his mother so they can start a new life. Popcaan spent most of his time in school trying to keep focused and trying his best to stay on the right track. Popcaan claims he had a very troubled childhood and was surrounded by violence calling where he grew up was the “Gangsta City”.

At an early age of 7,Popcaan used to preform during school talent shows and after school concerts. Knowing his talent Popcaan thought it was just a pipe dream for him to make it big like such artists such as Buju Banton and Sizzla. As a child Popcaan had dreams of becoming a soldier for the Jamaican army and serve his country proud. He want as far as taking the test to become a foot soldier. He soon came to realize that it wasn’t for him due to the lack of effort done by the team. He quit because he was the test was just to run and hope over stuff on the ground and was looking for more of a challenge.

In high school Popcaan started to develop a love for his music and wanted to make a name for himself. Popcaan like many Jamaican youths grow up around gangs and violence. Many of his friends where involved in drugs and many where murdered. Popcaan did his best to move away from the negative aspects of life and focus more on the positive even stating that he was very bad in school. Though in high school Popcaan had to leave for reasons he doesn’t want to talk about.

Luck finally came through for Popcaan when he was at a local talent party where he was first recognized by Dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel. Vybz Kartel liked his unique talent and took him under his wing and bringing him in the group “Portmore Empire” in 2007. Vybz Kartel not only became a mentor to Popcaan but more as a father figure that he was needing. Vybz showed him the ropes of the music industry and how to deal with life situations.

Popcaan started to move up in the rankings and out shining other members in the Gaza Camp. As Blak Ryno left Portmore Empire, Popcaan eased his way in to becoming Vybz Kartel right hand man. Popcaan has had many hit singles such as Clarks, Gangsta City and Dream. He also released a mix tape that was released on June 2010 called “Hot Skull, Fry Yiy, Boil Brainz”. This was a free mix tape to all of his fans.
Nova and Jory Biography:

Born Fernando Sierra in Carolina, Puerto Rico. Fernando goes by his stage name “Jory” where he grew up in Torres de Sabana. Fernando L. González, who goes by the stage name “Nova” was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and raised in Santa Isabel and Peñuelas. They where never friends in Puerto Rico and met later on in another state.

Ever since Jory could remember his life long dream was to become a music artist. It wasn’t until he was 10 years of age when his family left for America. Just like his friend and music partner Nova who is 5 years older than him also moved to the America with the same dreams of becoming famous. Before Jovy and Nova got famous they used to preform at talent shows, concerts and on T.V just to get there name out there. As time went on so did Nova y Jory love for the music.

It wasn’t until 2003 when both came together to do a song. All it took was to do one song and it was magic from that point on. The management and producers all thought it would be a great idea if they teamed up to be a reggaeton duo. There first mix tape to have come out was called “Por Encima” back in 2004. At the time Jory was able to help out other famous Reggaeton artist such as Wisin y Yandlel and Nejo y Dalmata by bringing his talent to the table.

It was until 2007 when Jory and Nova made the move to go back to their home land and team up with Bad Entertainment record label. The record company thought it would be a great idea for them to stay focused just on the music aspect alone to become what they are today.

Busy Signal Biography:

Born Reanno Gordon on January 1982 in St. Ann’s Jamaica. Reanno stage name “Busy Signal” grew up in Brown’s Town as a child and was a student of Browns Town Comprehensive High School where he completed his levels with good grades. Eventually Busy and his mother moved out of the country only to live in crime ridden areas such as Tivoli Gardens, Papine and Spanish Town. Despite moving around the inner city Busy kept his head up high and stayed focused on his life time goal, to be one of the best Jamaican Dancehall Dj’s. Ever since he could remember music was his passion and knew instinctively that he was going to be famous.

Busy Signal was raised by his mother as a child along side three brothers and one sister. Busy’s mother played a very import role in his life by keeping him away the temptations young black males face in Jamaica by bringing him to a Christian church a couple times a week. Busy music talent was first noticed when he opened his mouth to sing one of the church hymns a star was born. People in the church noticed that his great lungs and was able to hit cords with such precise power. After on of his own versions of a the typical church hymns the church congregation gave him a standing ovation that put a smile on his face.

When most young kids get lunch money from there parents they buy food. As for Busy Signal he went straight to the music store to pick a variety of cassette tapes from Supercat to Celine Dion. With a good voice and ear for music he was able to understand the beauty of all types of music genres. As for the American market he was picking up Jay-Z, Eminem and Whitney Houston and any new release that hit the streets in Jamaica. His love for music didn’t stop him from getting in trouble in class by making beats on his desk and sneaking out of his house with out anybody knowing to listen to Deejay’s blast beats from there sound systems.

As time went on and the passion for music was still in his veins Busy Signal was able to make contacts with several sound systems in dreams of reaching the stars to become a recording DJ. Through hard work he was able to do dub plates for Renaissance and Kilimanjaro that got his foot in the door. It wasn’t until Busy hooked up with sound engineer from Renaissance named “Fatta” who helped guide him through the right steps in order to be an artist. Busy was doing everything he could to record all the new information about music cords, breath control, metaphor and word play. All this was quite new for young busy but it still didn’t stop him from what he truly wanted to become. Busy Signal went to the US for some short time where he got locked up for conspiracy. He was able to get his act together and stick only to music. His hit song “Jail” was his own depiction of how he saw prison life.

Time went on and so did his drive. Busy Signal finally got lucky and tested out his talent during his very first single “Shake It Fast“, on the Tunda Clap Riddim. That was a start but it wasnt until the year 2005 when Busy was now going to be known across Jamaica over night with his hit song “Step Out”. His unique voice had everybody wanting more. Thanks to Bounty Killer he let Busy preform his talent in front of a huge audience in Kingston. Bounty Killer and Busy became business partners and joined “The Alliance” that helped grow his career.

Busy Signal got his name from never picking up his phone and avoiding people. His friends and family would get frustrated when they would call and get a busy signal. Busy works very hard in the studio and focuses on new beats and notes that is unheard on in Dancehall. People used to laugh at him when he played Opera in the studio to pick up on sounds that he was unfamiliar too so he can use them on his songs. He also loved old school American R & B artists “The Commodores” where he sampled the song “Night Shift”. He also used “One More Night” from Phil Collins 2009 that turned out to be a huge success.

Busy Success:

Busy’s hit song “Tic Toc” ranked 70 on Rolling Stone’s 100 Best Singles of 2008

His hit tracks for 2007/2008 were “Nah Go A Jail Again”, “Smoke Some High Grade” and “Step Out”.

One of his best sellers was “Loaded” released on September 2008 with VP Records. Songs include “Whine Pon Di Edge” and “People So Evil”.

His first hit single, “Step Out”, was one of the most popular dancehall songs in 2005

Busy Signal recorded #1 hit in the Caribbean, “Night Shift” and “One More Night” 2009

D.O.B was his latest album that was released July 2010.

Dancehall music style changed the moment Busy Signal was able to control his own ship in the studio. As time is progresses, Busy is working hard to change the game for the better by bringing a different and more unique flow to the Dancehall industry. Busy Signal right now stands as the most diverse DJs in Jamaica and will continue to grow until his name will be known around the world!

BLAK RYNO BIOGRAPHY:

Jamaican Dancehall deejay Blak Ryno was born on December 1984, Portmore, Jamaica. His real name Romaine Anderson who grew up in Waterford and attended school at Bridgeport High. Black Ryno always remained positive despite the negitivity around him. Ryno used to preform his music talent in high school. It wasn’t until he was around 16 years of age when he joined up with a Seven man group called the East Side. From then his love for music continued. Blak Ryno knew he had to make a big decision with his carear after he left school, either work or sing. He choose the impossible task to become a DeeJay in Jamaicans competitive music industry hoping to come out on top.

As time past Black Ryno wanted to advance his singing ability, so he contacted one of his close friends who was a DJ in the local Waterford area. He had asked if he could get in contact with Jamaican superstar “Vybz Kartel” and show him what he can bring to the table. Lucky for Ryno he got the chance to preform in front of Vybz the following month and executed his voice and rhythm. Addi Palmer aka Vybz really liked what he saw. Though Vybz wanted to make sure if Ryno was right for the job by bringing him to a studio with a very experienced old school DeeJay. He had given the thumbs up and told vybz he should sign him because he is right for the job. From that moment on he entered the very powerful “Portmore Empire” camp.

Ryno knew instinctivy that he needed his own style to stand out in the industry. He had to bring something to the table that you wouldnt normally hear in the Dancehall music industry. He would had to prove himself before Vybz would bring him in under his wing. As time progressed his voice not only changed for the best, but his unique flow was the missing link in what the industry needed. From the moment he was able to prefect his talent things started falling on his lap. His first ever recorded single was Shelle-le-le off of the Siren Riddim in 2005 that got a lot of buzz on the streets. Once talk got out that Ryno has potential to become a new superstar, major artist in the industry started to keep an eye on him.

With all of Rynos hard work by proving himself in the competitive market paid off. In 2007 one of the hottest DeeJay in Jamaica Vybz Kartel signed him officially under the “Portmore Empire”Adidjaheim Records where he would become Vybz Kartel right hand man. Vybz was able to send Ryno across the Caribbean to places like Barbados and Guadeloupe to get him used to live preforming. Ryno preformed as far as France and Switzerland with a very large crowd. Soon enough Blak Ryno came out with videos and was able to be put on some of the most popular riddims that where out in the past couple of years. Some of his hit songs where Bike Back, Bawl Out and Money Haffi Mek.

As the Portmore Empire was growing tension started rise. Black Ryno decided to leave the empire and go on his own. This put a dent in the Gaza Camp because Ryno was second in command to Vybz Kartel and contributed just more than music. Ryno told a popular Jamaican radio station “Mi a leave the Empire...” and still claims that he still keeps in contact with most of the members from Gaza.

Blak Ryno is now a free agent and continues on his own to get back to where he was. Ryno has grown mentally in the industry and keeps staying on the positive side and moving away the negative vybes.

Interesting Facts:

The name Blak Ryno was given to him by his friends when he used to play football. Blak because of his completion, and strong like a Ryno.

Its still up for debate weather Blak Ryno’s house was fire bombed, or there was an electrical problem. (Ryno chooses not to answer that question)

Might be changing his name to “Ryno Di Stinger“.

Fans speculate that Vybz Kartel was scared that Ryno was going to out rank him. Blak Ryno verse in Strip Club Medley 2009 compared to Vybz Kartel.

Feburary 25, 2010 Blak Ryno house was shot up at his Waterford home.

Vybz Kartel Biography:

Adidja Azim Palmer aka Vybz Kartel was born and raised in Kingston Jamaica, January 7, 1976. Vybz Kartel right now is one of the hottest Dancehall DJs to hit Jamaica by storm and is growing his empire at an alarming rate

Thing where always looking up for Mr Palmer when he was a youth in the inner city of Kingston Jamaica. Vybz Kartel went to Calabar High School in the inner city of Kingston where he ran into trouble conforming to the rules of class. At the age of 16 Vybz Kartel was expelled from school. Though having to be kicked out High School didn’t stop him from achieving a degree. Vybz Kartel attended Tutorial College where he completed his education with high marks. Vybz excelled in Math, English, Geography and Literature at CXC levels.

Even as a child Vybz Kartel had a fascination with music. At the tender age of 5 he used to ask his Dad if he could twist the cap off the T.V to see the artist behind the glass. Lucky for Vybz having his two uncles in the business help motivate him to get his foot in the door. Having a keen ear for good sounding tunes he would study American artist such as Will Smith and KRS 1 to broaden his horizon. By the age of 15 young he was practicing singing in his neighbourhood of Waterford, and then recorded his first single “Love Fat Women”. Success was around the corner but Mr Palmer need a name that would compliment his lyrics. After watching a movie on Pablo Escobar the infamous Colombian Drug dealer he decided to change his name to “Kartel”.

Vybz Kartel was first noticed by Bounty Killer another famous Dancehall DeeJay at the time. Vybz used to write lyrics for Bounty and since then it has been up hill. Bounty Killer said at one of the concerts that “there is extreme potential with Vybz”.
One thing lead to another and a year later he had worked with famous Jamaican artist like Elephant Man, Wayne Marshall and Bounty Killer and was crowned DeeJay of the year 2002.

Vybz Kartel:

2006 Vybz and Bounty Killer had a falling out, Vybz Kartel left the Alliance

Vybz Kartel has won an award at the CUMA (Caribbean Urban Music Awards) in 2008

won three EmE awards in 2009

Tensions arose following Kartel’s continued association with Bounty Killer’s longtime enemy, Beenie Man, including Kartel attending Beenie Man’s wedding to Bounty Killer’s ex-girlfriend

Vybz Kartel Controversy:

An ongoing feud with Movado was ended after issues between the two camps started to erupt.

As the years are passing Vybz Kartel skin seems to be getting lighter. He has been accused for bleaching his skin with Cake Soap. Popular songs such as “Stright Jeans and Fitted” Vybz makes reference to the issue.

Splits up with business partner Cory Todd the man behind Street Vybz Rum. Cory said he was threatened by Vybz and he is not the same person that he once knew.

May 2011 Vybz Kartel continued to shock the Dancehall fans with his new hair style. His new long extensions are down by his shoulders. When asked about his new hair, Vybz Kartel responded,

“Vybz Kartel is always unpredictable and be controversial, this new look is just me being me.”

Demarco Biography:

A young Colin Demar Edwards was born in Kingston Jamaica in 1983. Colin was a very bright student at school but growing up in Kingston he was easily distracted by his bad friends that led him down the wrong path. At the age of 16 he was kicked out of 2 schools and left with no choice other than to move to America with his mom where he now resides. Getting a huge amount of support from his mom he decided to change his life around for the better and get into the music industry where he had a love and enthusiasm for. Once in Baltimore where he linked up with a friend who showed him the ropes of mixing and using the keyboard. With all the confidence and skill in the world he faced many challenges such as money. He started doing whatever jobs he could get in order to buy the needed equipment, one piece at a time, to set up his own studio. Eventually he had enough to buy all the equipment he needed to build rhythms. Now at the age of 25 Demarko is one of the newest and exciting sounds out in the reggae world. He created rhythms for Styles P and Free from 106 & Park, as well for Elephant Man. Demarco made numerous beats alongside The Soul Diggaz who are signed to Missy Elliot and were involved in the production of her last three albums. Now you can hear many hit tracks such as “Fallen Soilders, and Duppy know who fi frighten”. There plenty more huge hits to come for this up and rising star.
